Location of the Louvre Museum
The Louvre Museum is located at Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France, in the heart of the 1st arrondissement. The museum occupies a former royal palace along the Right Bank of the Seine River, adjacent to the Tuileries Garden and close to the Place du Palais-Royal.
The Louvre sits within one of the most densely visited areas of central Paris, placing it within walking distance of several major landmarks and public transit connections. The museum's central position makes it straightforward to reach from most parts of the city.
The main entrance is located beneath the glass pyramid in the Cour Napoléon, the central courtyard of the Louvre complex. Alternative entrances include the Passage Richelieu and the Carrousel du Louvre, an underground shopping mall that also provides direct access to the museum.
